Can Someone Get My Ip From Discord

How To Get Someone’s IP From Discord [2021] – PC Strike

Chatting on Discord while playing a co-op game with your friends is always a fun experience.
However, in some games, such as Minecraft, to connect to a friend’s server, you will need their IP address.
If you aren’t particularly tech-savvy, you might not know how to find their IP address. This is common and it’s why many people are looking for ways to find someone’s IP on Discord, or at least through it.
To help you out, we have done all the necessary in-depth research in order to determine whether or not it is possible to obtain an IP address via Discord.
Discord Is Too Secure
The short answer to this question is no.
It is not possible to obtain someone’s IP address via Discord. This is because this application utilizes TLS (Transport Layer Security) and other techniques to protect users from scammers and hackers.
The fact that Discord hosts its own servers adds another layer of protection.
If you need your friend’s IP address, you won’t be able to simply get it through Discord. On the other hand, you don’t need to worry that somebody is going to hack into your computer via Discord.
It is not going to happen.
You shouldn’t say never but the risk is so low that it’s not something you should worry about.
Getting The IP Of Someone Else
Just because you can’t obtain an IP address through Discord, this doesn’t mean you should give up on the idea of playing a co-op game with your friend.
There is a way!
To get your friend’s IP address, you can use a third-party website that automatically detects a computer’s public IP address.
To do this, you will usually need your friend’s help, depending on whether you have your own website or not.
All you need to do is send them the link, then they can open it, copy their IP address, and send it to you on Discord.
If you own a website, be aware that you can log an IP that visits a particular, hidden URL, and you can do this without their consent.
You can even hide the link by using a URL shortener such as Bitly.

The gaming chat program Discord has had a meteoric rise over the past few years. Neither as cumbersome as Skype nor as expensive as TeamSpeak, Discord is a streamlined, lightweight and attractive way to communicate with teammates in online games. And, unless you need its $5-per-month Nitro tier, it’s absolutely doesn’t mean the program is perfect, however. User Cowgoesmoo2 on the Tom’s Guide forums finds Discord to be downright intrusive:”How the heck does Discord know what programs I have open? ” the subject line inquires. “I’m a security freak and things like this egregiously irritate me … Finding out Discord has permissions and the ability to see what I’m doing is incredibly unnerving. “What does Discord know? The simple answer to Cowgoesmoo2’s question is this: Discord knows what programs you have open because that’s how it’s programmed to work. However, the program does not do a good job of communicating this feature to those of you who haven’t used Discord before, Cowgoesmoo2 is exactly right about the program’s ability to discern other programs you’re using. Whenever you load up a game, Discord will recognize it immediately, even if you haven’t given it permission to access your Blizzard or Steam accounts. By default, it even shares what game you’re playing with your Discord friends list. You can disable these notifications, but you can’t stop the program from keeping a list of every game you play while it’s be perfectly honest, I initially dismissed this complaint as a simple case of a user who neglected to read a program’s Terms of Service. You know the Terms of Service — that Russian-novel-length wall of text that serves no purpose except getting between you and your brand-new program. But the truth of the matter is that the Terms of Service part often contains important information about the permissions and privileges a program requires in order to ‘s only one problem: Discord doesn’t actually show you its Terms of Service before it installs. In fact, the text containing the Terms of Service isn’t in the program at all. If you search for it, Discord will link you to its website, where you can read both the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. Neither one is that long, so if you use the program extensively, you might consider taking 20 minutes or so to read through Privacy Policy is fairly explicit about what kinds of information Discord collects:”When you interact with us through the Services, we receive and store certain information such as an IP address, device ID, and your activities within the Services. We may store such information or such information may be included in databases owned and maintained by affiliates, agents or service providers. “[Information about user demographics] may be compiled and analyzed on an aggregate basis, and we may share this aggregate data with our affiliates, agents and business partners. We may also disclose aggregated user statistics in order to describe our services to current and prospective business partners, and to other third parties for other lawful The Best Headsets for Immersive Gaming”As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, bankruptcy, dissolution or similar event, your information may be part of the transferred assets. “Interestingly, Discord does not specify whether it collects data based on the games you play, explaining only that “[i]nformation we collect may include but not be limited to username, email address, and any messages, images, transient VOIP data … or other content you send via the chat feature. “Discord’s defenseDoes this mean that Discord is gathering up your personal information, ready to sell it to advertisers to stay afloat, like Facebook, Twitter or Google? Not necessarily. I’m not the first person to notice that the Discord privacy policy seems vague on the topic of collecting, aggregating and potentially selling data. A user called KatsuoRyuu on Reddit pointed out the same thing about a year ago. KatsuoRyuu received a response from Shuu37, a graphic designer who works for Discord:”We don’t sell any of your information, ” Shuu37 wrote. “In terms of money, we are investor backed. We also have some monetization strategies in the works. ” Discord Nitro launched just around the time of their exchange, and Discord still plans to sell some cosmetic upgrades to keep its servers up and my point of view, if Shuu37’s statement is in any way false or misleading, the company would be shooting itself in the foot by putting such a thing in writing, especially in a semiofficial capacity. Of course, all bets are off if Discord sells or merges its assets (see above), but for the moment, if Discord is gathering information on the games you play, the company is keeping that data to itself. Discordant notes”Out of discord comes the fairest harmony, ” said Heraclitus of Ephesus, an early Greek philosopher. And perhaps he had a point. Discord is hardly the first program to offer a convenient service in exchange for a few inconvenient, Discord can track the games you play, whether or not you want it to. No, Discord doesn’t give you fair warning about this feature when you first install the program. But you can keep your game habits hidden from your friends, and if Discord is collecting information about the titles you’re playing, it’s not doing anything untoward with that information — for short, there’s no real solution in this situation, but there may not be a real problem, either. Like a lot of security issues, Discord’s permissions are just something with which users should familiarize themselves, then come to their own Discord

I had a friend that I met on a discord server. We started to play together on Rainbow Six Siege and after a while, he started trying to guess where I live. I thought he was just kidding around so I went on with it. About and hour later, he pulls up a screen shot of my ip and my state/city. Now he is teasing/harrasing me online making jokes about pinpointing where I live or exploiting it. My question is what should I do to prevent him from further obtaining information?

Discord itself you can’t get the ip address from it is one of the advantages to the system over some of the other older voice chat systems. Many games are peer to peer and you can get ip from that. Parts of rainbow siege are peer to peer but I forget what. The main multiplayer games is hosted on central servers so that will not reveal your IP.
In general with all the jerks out there I would always play games on vpn. I would not worry about someone knowing what city you live in. Its not like they can find your actual address. I would call the ISP and see if you can get a different IP address but others in the same pool will still link back to the same city.

I think you can restart your online device include your computer. And then use Network Accelerator or vpn to change your IP. I do not know why he/she does taht. Does he/she like you? HAHAHA.

I have already activated a vpn but wouldn’t it be useless if he already does know my ip?

I think your Network Provider would not leak your real addrss. Although he know your Ip, but everytime you restart your online device, you IP will change too. I am from China, I put my Ip on these website that can find my address. But many of them are not correct. Please do not worry~

You can contact your ISP about getting a different IP, and IP lookups are vague at best, so without telling him exactly what unit you are in, it wont really matter.
If you are concerned, call the police.

Not too much they can do with it besides DOS you. If you don’t have any inbound services then they can’t get past your NAT. You have to be careful about messages you get from them. Lookup XSS. They could of gotten your ip from giving you a link if it wasn’t from a game you played with them.
DOS is one of the more common ways people cheat in competitive games. a game server would never see it happening so it’s hard to prove.
