Channel 4 (Also known as 4oD and All4) is a free live and on-demand streaming service available in the UK only. Channel 4 is popular for British shows via its catch up channels that include Channel 4, E4, More4, 4Seven, Film4, and 4Music. Channel 4 is geoblocked outside UK. Therefore, British expats living abroad or spending their holidays in Spain, Cyprus, USA, Greece, Australia, UAE, Canada, or Australia or anywhere else in the world cannot watch their favorite British sitcoms. Unlocator allows you to bypass these regional restrictions and watch Channel 4 regardless of your location.
How Can I Watch Channel 4 Using Unlocator Smart DNS
Channel 4 is able to detect whether you are located in the UK or not by looking at your IP address. Unblocking All4 Live Streaming – Selecting UK Time Zone
After you have created your Unlocator account and configured your device to use Unlocator, you also have to change the time zone on your streaming device to in order to watch All4’s live stream if it’s not already set to UK.
In order to change your time zone to UK on your iPhone/iPad, go to settings → general → date and time → time zone → type London and choose London, England.
In order to change your timezone to UK on your Android, go to settings → time & date → uncheck “Automatic time zone” → Select time zone → choose London.
Using Unlocator VPN to Unblock All4
If you don’t feel comfortable altering the network settings on your device you can also use our VPN apps for Android, iOS, Mac or Windows to watch All4 outside the UK. First you need to create a free Unlocator trial as VPN access is included in the trial. Once you have installed the app and logged in you simply select one of the UK servers and click connect. Once connected your real IP is hidden and your data connection is encrypted. As a result you will be able to watch All4 regardless of where you are located.
So even though Smart DNS and VPN can both be used to unblock All4 there are times where you want to use VPN over Smart DNS. If you are located in a place with public WiFi like hotels, airports, cafes, restaurants, conferences, schools and the likes then you need to use VPN. This is both due to the fact that you might not be able to use Smart DNS at these locations but even more importantly you need the extra protection that you get from VPN. The reason is that criminals will often use unsecured public WiFi to harvest private details from connected users in order to do identity theft etc. So if you ever connect to a network that you don’t control yourself you should be using VPN.

Rights agreements mean that our All 4 service is only available in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, (although C4 does not always have rights for programmes in ROI). Even if you are a citizen of the UK or ROI you cannot access the service from abroad.
Unfortunately, you can only watch on All 4 when you are connected to the internet as it is a streaming service. However, you can watch previously downloaded programmes offline.
If you’re using an IOS or Android device to access All 4, you can watch and download All 4 content using 3G/4G or Wi-Fi connectivity (please check in Settings in order to enable this function). Please note that your operator may charge you for 3G/4G data when you stream/download content on the App. If you are unsure how much 3G/4G data costs on your tariff, please contact your network operator.
The Microsoft Edge browser returns a DRM error when you try to watch protected content and are using certain monitors or cables, such as VGA. This is because the media extension within Edge views the connection as unsafe, meaning protected content could be decrypted. There are two ways to continue watching content on All4 while using one of these connections:
Change to another one of our supported HTML5 browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
Or you can use a different connection, such as HDMI, to view content on another monitor.
No. All 4 programming is only available in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man. (Note: there are parts of Dorset and Kent where, in some weather conditions, you get a stronger mobile data signal from France than the UK, even if you have a UK SIM. This may cause All 4 to think you are abroad. ) Nor can you watch All 4 content via a UK SIM while overseas. Rights agreements mean that our All 4 service is only available in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, (although not for all programmes in ROI).
However, you can download programmes to watch whilst overseas on iOS and Android devices.
It is not currently possible to watch a programme on the mobile site. However, you will be directed to a link which reads as ‘How to watch’. Choosing this link will direct you to links where you can download the All 4 app in order to catch-up or stream a programme.

A-Z allows you to search for programmes alphabetically using the first letter of the show’s title. Search enables you to find programmes by typing in the name of the show. A minimum of two characters is required to start searching. When you have found the show you are looking for you will be taken to an Overview page, which gives you specific details about the programme, including broadcast date, channel and synopses for all available episodes.

It is not currently possible to watch a programme on the mobile site. However, you will be given the option to open or download the app. If you already have the app installed, choosing this option will open the app and enable you to catch-up or stream a programme. If you choose to download the app, you will be redirected to the apple store.
If you have either Freeview or satellite you can watch Channel 4 in Wales. You’ll find us on channel 117 and our HD channel on 140 with Sky and on channel 7 via Freeview.

To view a programme with subtitles, click on the “S” button in the video player (once the ads have played) and subtitles for the programme will load. If the “S” button is not displayed, this means that there are no subtitles available for that programme.

Yes. You’ll be able to resume playback from where you left off in an episode, and this works across devices too so if you switch from your PC to your iPhone, for example, your resume point will be remembered. Similarly if you press pause, you will be able to resume when you select that episode again.
Yes, you can rejoin All 4+ any time through the All 4+ page. Please be aware the 14 day free trial is only available once.
You do not have to be connected to the internet to watch a downloaded programme. The main benefit of the All 4 download service is that once you have downloaded a programme you can watch it offline or overseas.
To adjust the volume of video in the Player, click and drag the volume indicator in the control panel below the main image. If you are unable to increase the volume to an adequate level, check the Main volume and Wave volume of your computer system, which will override the volume level of the player. You can usually access your system volume by clicking on the speaker icon in the lower right-hand corner of the Windows Task Bar. Ensure you have mute unchecked and all external speakers connected properly. Speaker settings: To view your PC’s speaker setting go to your PC’s Control Panel and open the Sounds and Audio Devices control. In the Sound and Audio Devices Properties dialog, go to the Volume tab and in the Speaker settings section click the Advanced button. In the Advanced Audio Properties dialog, go to the Speakers tab and verify that your Speaker set-up is configured to match your PC’s speaker configuration. If you have a six speaker 5. 1 stereo system, select 5. 1 surround sound speakers from the Speaker set-up drop down. Alternatively, if your PC has stereo speakers or you are using a laptop, select the appropriate stereo setting from the Speaker set-up drop down.
If your Speaker set-up is set to a mono setting, you should change the setting to an appropriate stereo setting (as some videos encoded with 5. 1 surround sound experience low centre channel sound if your PC’s Speaker set-up is set to a mono setting). In most cases turning up the volume control and adjusting the speaker settings will allow sound to play properly.
Please consult your computer manual/help for additional troubleshooting regarding sound settings specific to your computer.
Commercially released Channel 4 titles can be purchased via DVD retailers. For videos/DVDs of our Learning/Education programmes click the video or DVD you want is not available through the Channel 4 store or another retailer, then the programme has not been released either by Channel 4 or any other distributor and is therefore not available for purchase. As we are sure you can appreciate, we receive hundreds of calls and e-mails requesting copies of programmes, therefore, Channel 4’s policy is that we do not provide one-off copies. However, you might be able to watch the programme again on line via our on demand Service, All 4 – click here.
No, you can’t skip adverts. All 4’s content is free to watch because we are an advertiser-funded broadcaster. As a government-owned, not for profit organisation, the revenue we make from advertising doesn’t go to shareholders, it goes back into making more programmes.

To register you will need to use an alternative browser. For the time being, existing Internet Explorer 11 users will be able to log in with a simpler version of the sign-in form.

Screen reader users with Jaws 18 or above may use the Chrome browser to sign in or register to watch programmes, as this will function as expected.

If you want to change the size of what you see in Windows, you have two options. You can change the size of what is on screen or change the resolution. Changing the size is usually the best Start, select Settings > System > Display.
Under Scale and layout, check the setting under Change the size of text, apps, and other items. We suggest you use the percentage marked “(Recommended). ”
If that doesn’t solve your problem, under Resolution, select a new value. We suggest you stick with the resolution marked “(Recommended). ”
Note: If your resolution was fine and recently changed (things appear huge, for example), your graphics driver might need to be updated. Run Windows Update to get the latest driver. If it’s just the size of things in your web browser windows that changed, try pressing the Ctrl+0 (zero) keys to return the zoom level to 100%.

You can watch programmes in small, medium or full-screen view by clicking on the icons in the bottom right hand corner of the All 4 player. This will give options for the ‘Pop out player’ as well as ‘Full screen’.
Channel 4 must acquire specific rights to screen programmes via All 4. Therefore, it can’t be guaranteed that all programmes or series will be available via all devices which carry All 4.
If you can download the app you can use the download function. However, not all programmes are available for download but those that are will be clearly marked with the download symbol
If you can’t find the programme you’re looking for it could be due to a number of different reasons. It may be the case that the programme is no longer on the service (programmes that have been selected for Catch-up are only available for 30 days after broadcast). Alternatively, Channel 4 may not own the rights to show this programme on All 4. Finally, it could be that the programme has not been selected to be made available on the All 4 there is a programme you particularly want to see on All 4, let us know and we can check if it will be coming in the future or we can pass on your suggestion that it should!
You can pause an All 4 programme on Google Chromecast at any time from your mobile, tablet, or computer for up to 20 minutes. After this time the Google Chromecast device will disconnect from All 4 and return to your Google Chromecast home screen.
Yes, you can sign out via the App settings.
You can cast videos on your Google Cast Ready receiver from the All 4 app on Android and iOS phones and tablets (in addition to being available on Mac, Windows laptops and Chromebooks). Make sure you are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Google Cast ready receiver, open the All 4 app and tap on the Chromecast icon to connect.
The download service is available for iOS and Android supported devices only. If you are able to get the All 4 app on your iOS or Android device then you will be able to download content – provided you have enough space on your device, you are signed in and have access to WiFi.
In addition, iPhone and iPad now support downloading over 3G/4G.

Support of reminders has stopped due to the feature not being widely used. Instead, you can add a programme to ‘My List’ to watch later. You will then get reminders in your My4 area of when there’s a new episode or series on All 4.

Channel 4 originated transmissions provide for three aspect ratios: 4:3, 16:9 that is safe for 14:9 viewing and 16:9. Using a 4:3 TV to view a 4:3 aspect ratio transmission is straight forward. When a 4:3 TV is used to view 16:9 safe for 14:9, what should happen is that the freeview box will zoom in a little to provide thin black bands top and bottom and cut a little of the sides of the picture off. This facility is intended to provide a reasonable compromise for viewers with 4:3 TVs. (14:9 is often used for analogue transmissions for the same reason) that some freeview boxes do not support this option and will produce a 16:9 letterbox display in this mode with thick black lines top and bottom, but the correct aspect ratio. A few types of box may become confused and not produce satisfactory pictures. When a 4:3 TV is used to view 16:9 programmes the pictures may be presented in one of two ways depending on the chosen option in the freeview box. Either in letterbox with thick black lines top and bottom or in centre cut out. Centre cut out enlarges the centre of the 16:9 image to fill the 4:3 screen and in so doing cuts off the sides of the picture. Note that some shows which are a mixture of 16:9 and 4:3 have to present the 4:3 with an area of black each side of the screen. If this is being watched in letterbox on a 4:3 TV, this will result in an area of black all around the image. E4 is transmitted with a different resolution setting from boxes can give unexpected results as a result of this. If you are able to compare results/settings with friends and neighbours it may be helpful.

Switch Control lets you control your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using a single switch or multiple switches linked to you iOS device. This accessibility feature allows people with motor difficulties to operate their iOS device with the aid of a ‘switch’ device connected via Bluetooth to the iPhone/iPad. The All 4 iOS app has also been developed so that iconography/buttons are of sufficient size to select.
The site can be navigated using switches for individuals with who may have limited dexterity or a mobility impairment. Switch Control lets you control your Android Phone/tablet or iOS mobile/tablet using a single switch or multiple switches, which will allow various commands to be undertaken including scanning multiple selectable items on a web page or app, with the ability to select a particular element that is clickable. Yes, you can stream on both Wi-Fi and mobile data
If you mouse-over the player you’ll find a social sharing button in the bottom right hand corner of the window. Clicking this button will bring up the option to share on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Google+. You’ll need to log-in to your social network if you aren’t already.
This means you don’t have a fast enough Internet connection to view the live video stream.
Channel 4 must acquire specific rights to provide programmes on All 4 that aren’t always covered by existing television rights. Therefore it can’t be guaranteed that all programmes will be available to view.
Subtitles via Watch Live are supported on most of our programming and platforms (Amazon, Roku, iOS, Android and within a web browser) however not everything will carry subtitles either because none are available or, as in the case of some of our older content, because the subtitle format is not compatible (e. g Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, etc. ). If subtitles are available, an ‘S’ button will be visible on screen.

If you are simply using the Duck Duck Go browser to access the All 4 website, then this should work as normal for you, however if you have installed the Duck Duck Go plug-in then you will see an ad blocker message when trying to view content on All 4.
If you have the Duck Duck Go plug-in installed simply open up the plug in and select “Manage Whitelist” then “Add site to whitelist” and add. This should turn green and appear as enhanced.
When casting content, the video playing on your HDTV is not the downloaded file – for Google Chromecast, the video must be streamed and as our restrictions do not allow streaming All 4 content abroad, the video will be unable to cast (although you are still able to view downloads on your device). All 4 is one of the main UK channel catch-up TV streaming services, a platform which hosts most TV shows and movies that air on the likes of Channel 4, E4, More4, Film4 and 4Music.
Like most video on-demand services, All 4 is only available to watch when you’re located within the UK borders because of the licensing issues related to the shows. That can be a problem if you’re going abroad and want to keep up with your favourite shows while you’re away, or if you live outside the UK but don’t want to miss out on some of Channel 4’s content.
Luckily, there are ways around it – so here’s how to watch All 4 (or 4oD if you simply can’t stop using the old name as we can’t) from outside the UK. This is the perfect way to catch up on new episodes of Bake Off 2021.
