In this article, we’ll break down how to block someone on Reddit after explaining exactly what blocking them entails.
Reddit does not allow its users to block people who have not interacted directly with them. This means that unless the user you want to block has messaged you or interacted with one of your posts, you cannot block them.
Can you block someone from seeing your posts on Reddit?
No, you cannot block someone from seeing your posts on Reddit. Blocking someone only prevents you from seeing their posts. This means they are not notified when you block them. They can continue to interact with your posts and message you. You just won’t see their posts, replies, comments, messages, or mentions.
In short, while you can’t stop blocked users from seeing you, you won’t have to see any more of them. Also note that if you are an Admin or Mod of a subreddit, you will still see blocked users’ posts within that subreddit. Any posts outside of that will be hidden from your view.

Step 1: Go to your messages
If you’re not logged into your Reddit account, go to and click “log in” at the top right corner of your browser window. Enter your username and password, then click “sign in. ”

Step 2: Find an interaction from the user you want to block
Remember, you can only block people who have interacted with you. Scroll through your messages until you find one from the person you want to block.
Step 3: Click “block user” under their interaction
Click on the words “block user” beneath the message. More text that says “Are you sure? ” will pop up with the option for you to click “yes” or “no. ”
Clicking “yes” will block the user, making the message and all other interactions you’ve had with them, in your private inbox or elsewhere, instantly invisible to you.
Out of sight, out of mind
