I am looking for a way to make my IP Adress constantly change (without going through an open proxy). I have heard of this also being called a “Dynamic IP Address” instead of a “Static IP Address”.

Hi, I don’t think you can without a Proxy, your outside IP, that seen by the internet, is determined by your when you’re connecting via another Server & that Server has a differen’t IP.

Static and Dynamic IP Addresses – WatchGuard Technologies

ISPs (Internet service providers) assign an IP address to each device on their network. The IP address can be static or dynamic.
Static IP Addresses
A static IP address is an IP address that always stays the same. If you have a web server, FTP server, or other Internet resource that must have an address that cannot change, you can get a static IP address from your ISP. A static IP address is usually more expensive than a dynamic IP address, and some ISPs do not supply static IP addresses. You must configure a static IP address manually.
Dynamic IP Addresses
A dynamic IP address is an IP address that an ISP lets you use temporarily. If a dynamic address is not in use, it can be automatically assigned to a different device. Dynamic IP addresses are assigned using either DHCP or PPPoE.
About DHCP
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an Internet protocol that computers on a network use to get IP addresses and other information such as the default gateway. When you connect to the Internet, a computer configured as a DHCP server at the ISP automatically assigns you an IP address. It could be the same IP address you had before, or it could be a new one. When you close an Internet connection that uses a dynamic IP address, the ISP can assign that IP address to a different customer.
You can configure your Firebox as a DHCP server for networks behind the device. You assign a range of addresses for the DHCP server to use.
About PPPoE
Some ISPs assign IP addresses through Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE). PPPoE adds some of the features of Ethernet and PPP to a standard dial-up connection. This network protocol allows the ISP to use the billing, authentication, and security systems of their dial-up infrastructure with DSL modem and cable modem products.

What is the difference between a static IP address and a dynamic IP address? When a device is assigned a static IP address, the address does not change. When a device is assigned a dynamic IP address it is exactly that: dynamic. It could change frequently or not change for over a year. It really depends on how the DHCP server that’s assigned to the IPs is set up. To clarify, most devices use dynamic IP addresses.
For businesses that host their own website or internet services, a static IP address is the best option. They even have the advantage when remote workers log into work via VPN. Consumers are usually fine with dynamic IP addresses.
So, for what should a person use a static IP address versus a dynamic IP address? There are advantages and disadvantages of using both a static IP address and dynamic IP address.
Some advantages of a static IP address are faster internet speed and easy remote access. Communication is usually hassle free, and you have the ability for simple server hosting. On the other hand, the disadvantages of a static IP address are that the cost can be expensive, the setup is difficult and complex, and it can be known for lack of security.
Some advantages of a dynamic IP address are that the cost of price associated with the ISP is usually lower, since being associated with ISP, it is an automated configuration. But the disadvantages of a dynamic IP address are that since it depends on the ISP, there is the issue of more downtime and also the inability for remote access capabilities.
Check If Using Static IP Address or Dynamic IP Address
It is easy to check if you have a static IP address or a dynamic IP address.
With a Windows computer:
Type ipconfig /all within a command prompt
Find the “DHCP Enabled” text and if NO you have a static IP address and if YES you have a dynamic IP address.
With a Mac computer:
Under system preferences, select Network and then “Advanced”, then go to TCP/IP. Under “Configure IPv4” if you see MANUALLY you have a static IP address and if you see USING DHCP you have a dynamic IP address.
In Conclusion
To summarize, if you don’t really rely on a constant IP address, you can have the advantages of using a dynamic IP address. However, if you have a business with a website or Internet service and it’s best not to have any interruptions, then a static IP address would be the best choice.
