What determines the IP address? – the Etsy Community
An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a logical numeric address that is assigned to every single computer, printer, switch, router or any other device that is part of a TCP/IP-based network. How static or variable the address is depends on the is a physical address (MAC) that is hardwired into a computers hardware. This is one way you can help each other by each using your own computer and not sharing. Etsy uses the address when there is more than one shop associated with the IP address. Etsy has no way to determine if the shops associated are run by one person using friends or family members as a front or are actually run by several doesn’t close on a whim. There has to be reasons such as too many infringements, reselling, or lack of customer service. The person to discuss this with would be your daughter. If she and you are customer service oriented, are not infringers or anything else that can get shops into trouble I see no reason why you both cannot have shops. Contacting Trust and Safety may help as you can ask if there is anything you can do to make sure the shops are kept you and daughter have fun being Etsy shop owners.

Depending on where you are located, you might need to display the physical address of your business in your shop policies– this is the law for EU sellers

thanks, i’m in the US, but i think it effects me if i ship to EU, i think i read it displays only to EU customers though?
Yes, if we are selling to the EU or the UK, we need to display a physical address. In theory, it displays only to EU customers, but I’ve been able to see it. I have a PO box I use for my business address.
I am going to go ahead and rent a P. for my return address. I recently saw a disturbing post that a buyer was planning on stopping by an Etsy shop location to have a visit and view the sellers’ process/studio. The buyer was uninvited and in the middle of a pandemic or not, I don’t want strangers coming to my house.
That worries me too. I actually had that happen to me years ago when I was selling on another platform. People just don’t know boundaries. I am lucky enough now to be able to put my full time work address as a return address
If you only ship to the US you can use your business name on the labels and in your profile. You can also use a P. O. Box The EU does have laws that you need to expose your name and physical address

No issue if you don’t log in to your Etsy account using the VPN. You can use it to view your Etsy shop without logging in, as if you were someone ‘s not much point though. You actually want Etsy to know you have been active in your account a VPN to try and see how you are ranking in searches is pretty pointless now too, since you don’t know that anyone other than yourself would ever see the same result you get. So if you search for your own products here and see your listings ranking poorly or ranking well, it doesn’t mean that’s what any potential buyers are likely to people use a VPN to try and avoid being tracked by sites they visit. I say “try” because the people who track others are not that easily fooled. Another common use for them is so that a history of where you have been looking online doesn’t appear in your regular online history details so easily, should anyone else look into your browsing history. A VPN address is used a lot by people who want to check out their competitors without the data from their visit being so easily revealed. However if you want more privacy, you are really better to go for a cloaked address than a VPN address – especially if you happen to have a fixed IP address rather than a roaming one (most are roaming now unless you pay extra for a fixed one) your purpose for having a VPN address is to stop Big Brother from watching you, it doesn’t achieve that. I think a lot of the world would use VPNs if that were the case! I use a VPN sometimes but find its more hassle than anything else, so I only use it when I don’t want my location to be identified so easily. I’ve come to realize that not many people are all that interested in my online behavior, and those that are can easily find what they want to know regardless.
