Manage & delete your Search history – Android – Google Support
When you search on Google with Web & App Activity turned on, Google saves activity like your Search history to your Google Account. We use your saved activity across Google services to give you more personalized experiences, like app and content recommendations.
In My Activity, you can:
Delete Search history saved to your Google Account.
Manage Search settings like what activity Google saves and when Google auto-deletes your history.
Your Search history can also be saved to your device, like when you use the Google app while signed out of your Google Account. Learn how to manage your on-device Search history.
Manage Search history saved to your Google Account
Delete Search history
Important: If you delete Search history that’s saved to your Google Account, you can’t get it back.
You can delete a specific activity, or delete your Search history from a specific day, a custom date range, or all time.
On your computer, go to your Search history in My Activity.
Choose the Search history you want to delete. You can choose:
Control your Search history
Delete your Search history automatically
Important: If you set your Search history to auto-delete, you can still manually delete your history at any time.
On the left or at the top, click Controls.
On the “Web & App Activity” card, click Auto-delete (Off).
If you find “Auto-delete (On), ” Google automatically deletes your Web & App Activity, which includes your Search history, after a specific time period. To change the time period or turn it off, click Auto-delete (On).
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Pause saving your Search historyTo pause saving your history:
On the “Web & App Activity” card, click Turn off.
If you find “Turn on, ” Web & App Activity is turned off and your Search history isn’t saved to your Google Account.
Optionally, you can keep Web & App Activity turned on and choose not to save specific activity to your Google Account. Under “Subsettings, ” uncheck the box next to the activity that you don’t want to save.
Review what happens when you turn off Web & App Activity, then click Pause.
Manage Search history saved on your device
Delete browser historyEven if your Search history isn’t saved to your Google Account, or you delete it from My Activity, your browser might still store it.
You can delete your browser history:
In Chrome: Learn how to delete browsing history and other browsing data.
In other browsers: Check your browser’s instructions.
Turn off Search customization while signed out of your Google AccountIf you’re signed out from your Google Account when you search on Google, you may find recommendations related to your recent search. If you don’t want to get these, turn off Search customization.
On your computer, go to
At the bottom, tap Settings Search settings Search customization.
Turn off Search customization.
How Google deletes your history in your Google Account
When you choose to delete activity manually or activity is deleted automatically based on your auto-delete setting, we immediately start the process of removing it from the product and our systems.
First, we aim to immediately remove it from view and the data may no longer be used to personalize your Google experience.
We then begin a process designed to safely and completely delete the data from our storage systems.
For limited purposes, like business or legal requirements, Google may retain certain types of data for an extended period of time.

Delete your Chrome browsing history – Computer – Google Chrome Help
If you don’t want a record of webpages you’ve visited using Chrome, you can delete all or some of your browsing history. If you delete your browsing history, it’ll take effect on all devices where you’ve turned sync on and signed in to Chrome.
Your history will be removed from Chrome. Separately, you can also delete your Google search history from your account.

Delete an item from your history
You can delete certain parts of your history. To search for something specific, use the search bar at the top.
Remove an image from New Tab page
To see the sites you visit most, open a new tab. To remove an image, point to it and click Remove.
What your history page shows
Your History page shows the webpages you’ve visited on Chrome in the last 90 days. It doesn’t store Chrome pages you’ve visited like chromesettings, pages you’ve visited in Incognito mode, or pages you’ve already deleted from your browsing history.
If you’re signed in to Chrome and syncing your history, then your History page shows webpages you’ve visited across all your synced devices for much longer. If you’re signed out of Chrome, your History page won’t show webpages across your other devices.
Browse privately
If you don’t want Chrome to save your browsing history at all, you can browse in private with Incognito mode.
Using a Chromebook at work or school? Your network administrator can turn off browsing history. If history is off, your History page won’t list webpages you’ve visited. Learn about using a managed Chrome device.

Delete Personal Activity Information Collected By Google
Google as a company has a hand in pretty much every corner of the Internet. While their search engine is what they are best known for, they also have services like YouTube, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Assistant, and Google Plus.
Google provides a valuable service, but the primary way that they monetize is through advertising and collecting information. Businesses recognize the huge influence that the company has to offer, and ads on YouTube as well as web pages and searches have proven quite lucrative.
If you’re a user of Google products, chances are that the company has a decent amount of information on your Internet activities – data that they use to increase the effectiveness of their advertisements.
The good news, however, is that Google allows you to choose the data that they are allowed to collect and even delete personal information entirely.

First, navigate to to access the dashboard that contains your personal information. When you first arrive, Google will show you a short tutorial that explains how they track your activity and some basic information on the controls available.
From there, you have several different options on how to handle data deletion.
Delete Personal Information From Today
Step 1. By default, the main page will show your internet activity chronologically – breaking each down by time and giving a pretty good sense of the pages you’ve visited over time.
Step 2. At the top right of the “Today” section, you can click the three vertical dots to expand the menu. This gives you the option to view details on your activity, as well as delete your browsing habits from the past day entirely.
Delete A Specific Page
Step 1. If you’d like to delete a specific page from your history, find it in your activity and click the “Details” button to see more information.
Step 2. Just as with the page on the main menu, click the three dots and select “Delete. ”
Delete Personal Information By Category
Step 1. If you’d like to delete personal data entirely, click on “Delete Activity by” on the left of the main page.
Step 2. The next page allows you to choose a specific date range to delete information from. Click “Delete” to wipe the entirety of your personal information that was collected in that period.
Step 3. You also have the option to delete data from specific Google Services. Use the drop-down list on the page to select the services you’d like to delete, and then follow the process from step 2.
Manage Google Tracking
In addition to being able to delete Google’s existing information, you can manage the way they handle your personal information in the future.
Step 1. Click “Activity Controls” in the menu on the left of the page.
Step 2. The next page explains a bit more about their tracking process, and you’ll have the option to manage data collection by each category. Just click the slider to on or off to suit your preferences.
It can be difficult to reduce your footprint when browsing the web. However, Google does provide the ability to better maintain your privacy.
