[SOLVED] Instagram Banned My Account Before I Posted A …
Home » Featured » [SOLVED] Instagram Banned My Account Before I Posted A Single Instagram Post – Here’s What I Did To Fix ItWell…this is a new one for me… Instagram ban. But here’s the twist, I was recently banned for violating Instagram’s terms of use for an account that I had:
Just created (I was banned 2 seconds after pushing the “Create Account” button and
Had never posted a photo or comment from (since the ban happened immediately)
I mean, Instagram is notorious for banning accounts without any notice. They are pretty clear about the reasons that they might ban an account, but when it happens, there usually aren’t any warnings…it just happened. I hadn’t even upload a single instagram post and BOOM! Instabanned.
Please note: Some of the links in my posts are affiliate links. I get commissions for purchases made through those links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases when you buy something from those links.
I have seen multiple accounts with upwards of 100K followers who are suddenly banned. Those who plan for the possibility that it might happen often create a backup account to use while they try to resolve the issue.
In my situation, however, my account was immediately banned upon being created.
If your Instagram account is banned, there are steps you can take to get it back. Click To TweetMy wife and I are starting a new travel blog at with the goal of documenting and sharing our travel and providing tips and recommendations for those who might be interested.
As part of the blog-building process, I attempted to create a new Instagram business account at the handle of @FlatlandersIn. Nothing provocative…nothing offensive or incendiary. Just a simple handle where we can share our travel photo.
NOTE: Flatlanders are not flat-Earthers. For those not familiar with the term, flatlanders are people from flat areas of the country like Kansas, where we reside. Flat-earthers, on the other hand, well…don’t get me started.
Yet, upon clicking the “Create Account” button, I immediately received a notice that my Instagram account was deactivated. The account was created, it’s not like our Instagram signup was blocked. Heck, we even got the confirmation that the account had been created.
Here’s what the notice looks like.
Oh, goodie! Instagram deactivated my account before I even posted a single image.
Apparently, I violated the Instagram terms of use without ever even posting a single Instagram photo, so I received this message from Instagram stating “your account has been disabled for violating our terms”. Cool!
Knowing that Instagram is going to play a big role in our blog, I decided to go through the steps and document them for anyone else who is experiencing this issue. The goal is to figure out and share the exact steps on how to get unbanned from Instagram.
Unfortunately, Instagram support is notoriously bad and automated using AI, so I wasn’t looking forward to the process, but if it helps someone else out it’s totally worth the hassle.
Here are the steps I took.
NOTE: These steps worked for me because I followed them exactly. I performed every step that Instagram/Facebook asked me to. DON’T skip steps. DON’T leave emails unanswered. DO everything they ask of you.
Step 1 – Appeal The Ban Using The Instagram App
To kick of the process, you need to appeal the ban using the Instagram app. That means attempting to login and then, when you get the ban notification, click the “Appeal” link.
Click the Appeal link in the app and follow the steps to start the Instagram appeals process
In the Instagram appeal form that follows, fill in ALL the information. Don’t skip any fields and be sure to include an email address that is live and you are actively monitoring. You are going to want to reply back to the requests for information quickly.
NOTE: In a lot of cases, Instagram is trying to prevent bots or inflammatory people from creating accounts. They likely flagged your account for a reason, so you need to prove to them that you are legit. In my case, the fact that our blog is named “Flatlanders In” might have triggered some “Flat-Earther” logic in their AI.
During the process, you are going to be asked to provide some sort of proof, in the form of a document, that shows that you are a human being and you are entitled to the Instagram account.
In my case, I uploaded a receipt from GoDaddy showing that I had purchased the domain. This is the what the attachment looked like:
To prove to Instagram that I am a human and own the domain, I uploaded the receipt for the domain purchase.
Once you have attached your proof of being a human, submit your appeal request.
Step 2 – Wait For The First Of Additional Requests For Information
Again, the AI is trying establish that you are a human being and you aren’t some shady, black-hat trying to make a new Instagram account and manipulate Instagram or use it for bad purposes.
So, the next request for information I received was sent to the email on file for the account, to prove that it is a legit email address and there is a human paying attention to it. Because Instagram is going to try to connect with you via email, it’s important that you monitor the email address you used to create the Instagram account that’s blocked.
Here’s what the first email looked like:
This is the first email request for information from Instagram requesting a business document.
Pretty straightforward, right? Now that they know I am a human being monitoring the email address on file, they want me to reply back with a business document that proves I have the right to use the Instagram handle that is associated with the domain.
I replied back with a copy of my utility bill where our office for FlatlandersIn resides.
Step 3 – Prove That You Are REALLY A Human Being.
Now it starts to get kind of silly but Instagram wants to make sure I really, really, really am a human being.
So, they sent the email below asking me to write out a code, write my name, and the Instagram handle and then take a photo of me holding it and reply with the photo.
Now Instagram wants me to take a photo of myself with a code.
At this point, I feel like Instagram’s AI is just making me jump through hoops to see how silly it can make the human look. And I do feel pretty silly asking someone to take a photo of me holding a piece of paper with a code on it.
Just me…holding a silly piece of paper with a code on it so I can get my Instagram account unlocked.
Step 4 – Hurry Up And Wait.
This is the hardest part.
Did all of my emails work? Is the AI paying attention? Did my answers and documents and photos satisfy its need? Will I get my brand new Instagram unblocked?
All of the emails say that they will respond back in 1-2 days. I was banned on a Tuesday, I submitted my documents on the following Wednesday, so the hope was that bots would reply back and give me access by Friday.
Step 5 – Celebrate The Success
Well, it didn’t take but a few hours for the AI bots (or maybe a human at Facebook/Instagram) to review the documents that I sent over and lift the ban on our account.
I received the email below that the ban on the account was lifted and I should be able to login to the account now.
After jumping through all the hoops, Instagram lifted the ban on my new account
Step 6 – Login And Make Sure Everything Works
The last step in making sure that the ban was actually lifted was to login to the account via a browser and make sure that I had full access to the account. The good news is everything is working as expected!
After logging in with my credentials, I was able to access my profile and can start building out the account with a profile photo, bio, etc…
After jumping through all the hoops, Instagram lifted the ban and gave me access back to the new account
In Summary – Follow The Steps Exactly…Even If They Seem Silly
I hope these steps help you if your brand new Instagram account has been banned.
When working to get Instagram to lift the ban on our account, be sure to follow every step and answer every email they send to you. Click To TweetWhile the process seems kind of silly and protracted, it only took a couple of days to get the account unlocked and I guess that’s not too bad.
If you have other experiences or suggestions for those out there who are experiencing an Instagram ban, be sure to share them in a comment so others can benefit.
Cheers!
–Sean
ONE ADDITIONAL NOTE: I (nor any other individual) cannot help you gain access to a banned account. Only you can do that by working directly with Instagram/Facebook. Follow the steps carefully and make sure you respond to every single email.

Have you ever had your Instagram account disabled? It is one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a social media user.
If you are reading this, it probably means that your account has been disabled by Instagram for some reason and you want to know how to get it back.
We have all been there before and we will tell you what to do next!
How to Recover Disabled Instagram Account in 2021
Have you ever tried logging into your Instagram and this message: ‘Your account has been disabled for violating our terms. Learn how you may be able to restore your account. ’ pops up?
This has been happening to a lot of people lately and while it’s true that many of those getting their Instagram accounts disabled have violated Instagram’s terms and conditions, there are many others whose Instagram accounts were mistakenly disabled.

Recover Instagram Account
Recovering your disabled Instagram account can be a real pain especially at a time like this when Instagram has cut down the number of their staff due to the COVID pandemic.
We’re seeing a lot of people in my telegram group getting the message: We can’t review the decision to disable your account.
We have fewer reviewers available due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, so we can’t review this decision at this time.
This message appears to show mostly to people appealing from third-world countries, but we’ve also seen similar cases happen to others too.
A possible solution to this would be to use a VPN to change your location every time this issue comes up.
If you’re getting too many rejections when appealing, you can change your location and appeal again and again so that different members of the Instagram staff will see your appeal.

Using the VPN you can set your location to the USA or other Western European countries. This could help get your appeal through.
Whether Instagram will restore your disabled account or not will mostly depend on the reason given for the ban.
I’ve seen accounts reenabled a few hours after the appeal and I’ve also seen others take weeks, sometimes months to recover.

There are two ways to recover your disabled Instagram account:
Manually appealing or…
Using an automated system
Manually Recovering Your Disabled Instagram Account
This process involves manually filling up the right forms and then sitting and waiting after hitting send.
I personally used to do this a lot when I ran hundreds of Instagram accounts on my social media automation tool, Jarvee.
It can be exhausting and frustrating when you’re having to send appeals every day, but it’s worth doing it if you’ve lost a valuable Instagram account.
The following are some of the Instagram support forms that you can manually fill to get back your account:
General appeal links:; Report hacked account: Age verification link: Report a problem to Instagram: When both Facebook and Instagram disabled: You only need to visit the appropriate link above, fill it up with the right information, hit send, and wait for a reply from Instagram.
If you don’t get your account reactivated after sending an appeal, it’s worth sending more appeals regularly until Instagram responds positively.
How often should you appeal?
I’d recommend sending in new appeals every 24 – 48hrs until your Instagram account is recovered.

The longest I had to wait before I got my account back was about 8 weeks.
I’ve also seen in my group about others who were able to recover their Instagram accounts after appealing for more than 6 months.
This is probably where a set-and-forget automated system comes in handy.

How to Recover Disabled Instagram Account Using Automated Tool
This is a new method that popped up recently and is what a lot of us are now using to recover our disabled Instagram accounts.
The process involves an appealing tool that automatically sends out your appeals regularly until your Instagram account is recovered.
I like that it takes away the headache of having to fill out the forms every day manually.
You won’t even have to worry about the common Instagram response asking you to take a picture holding a paper with a code written on it.
In case you’re wondering what it does about the request to take a picture with the code Instagram sends to your email, well, you’ll be pleased to know that the tool has its own database of images that it picks one from and writes the code on it before submitting it to Instagram.
You don’t need to worry about it using images other than yours because experience has shown that they don’t actually confirm if the person holding the piece of paper with a code written on it is the same person whose images appear on the disabled Instagram account.

They also have their own emails that they use to send appeals.
But just in case you’re still skeptical, the tool allows you to upload your own images holding a blank paper that it will use every time it’s required to send an image with the code.
There’s also an option to use your own emails, in case you want to.
Personally, I never had to upload my own images or emails. Once I’ve typed in my username, I only need to sit back and wait for a message telling me that my Instagram account has been recovered.
It can take hours, weeks, or in extreme cases, months, but it takes away the stress of having to do it manually.
This tool will also show you all the replies it’s getting from Instagram.
When your account is recovered, you’ll see a message on the appeal bot saying ‘An email have* been received and your account has been reactivated! ‘
If you’re involved in Instagram automation and frequently get your accounts disabled, this might just be the service you’ve been waiting for.
Visit the Appeal Bot’s website to get started today.

We Detected an Unusual Login Attempt
If you’re constantly getting this message and are prompted to change your password every time, chances are your Instagram account will eventually get disabled if you don’t take immediate measures to avoid it.
This usually happens when you’ve either signed in on third-party apps or when someone else (possibly a hacker) has had access to your account.
One of the most effective strategies to avoid a ban (after you change your password) is to run an ad for as little as $3.
Thank You for Providing Your Info. We’ll Review Your Info and Get Back to You
When you get a message saying:
We’ll review your info and if we can confirm it, you’ll be able to access your account within approximately 24 hours.
Unfortunately, 90% of the time, your Instagram account will be disabled within 24hours. The bans are particularly higher (100% of the time) when you use virtual numbers to verify your account.
The key to minimizing the bans is to use the same number you registered with to verify your account.
Update!
Sadly the appeal bot was sold recently. The new owner was unable to keep it updated and now it stopped working.
We’re relaunching our Instagram recovery service very soon, but in the meantime, we recommend using proven growth services for Instagram, as some accounts may take longer to recover while others may not be recoverable.
24/08/2020
I’m pleased to announce that we’ve relaunched our recovery service for Instagram accounts that have been disabled.
We’re currently only accepting pages disabled for one of the following reasons:
using third-party apps
artificial
impersonation
TOS
sexual
hate speech
How long it takes to recover banned Instagram accounts varies from one account to the next. It can anything between a few days to a few weeks.
